Sanctus Barba

Sanctus Barba, travelling adventurer and Cleric of the Overgod, began his life in a mining family, where he was bought up to learn to trade. However one day in a tragic mining accident, his entire family was crushed, killing them all and sparing him. However the accident wiped his memory, and permanently demented his physical form, making him shorter and seem fatter then he should've been.

He was rescued by a group of travelling priests who happened to be nearby at the time of the accident. With no apparent family left and no memory to remember his name, the priests decided to call him Sanctus, to make reference to the holy miracle it was that he survived. They took him with them so that he could start life as a cleric. Although not the most knowledgeable student, and sometimes teased for his short stout form, he showed some promise in the order, sometimes proving to be quite insightful, and was very laborious in his work. He was particularly noted for his excellence in cultivating grapes and making wine.

After several long years Sanctus finally completed his apprentice as a cleric. He was given the name Barba for his last name. Most people in his order grew long beards and so the order was nicknamed Barba as such. Because he had no family references he could remember, they decided to give him a last name based on the order he was in, Barba. This was how Sanctus Barba became Sanctus Barba.

Being a young cleric full of promise, Sanctus Barba set out into the world, as many clerics do once they complete their cleric apprenticeships. With the full backing of his seniors in the order, they gave him some tools and gold to help him on his journey, along with teaching him a ritual called "the hand of fate", should he ever need some extra guidance in the world.

(As a result of his accident, Sanctus is the closest thing in Archworld to a Dwarf. As such, he uses the Dwarf stats from the Player's Handbook. He is currently a 4th level Cleric.)
